6000footdrop.com survived its fifth anniversary in 2015. 85 posts over 65 months with about 65,000 unique viewers from 136 countries. A modest success for a PG-rated website with nothing to sell.
But the world changes, and the pace of hobbies apparently tags along. 6000footdrop.com retains its mission to report on travel, politics, and fine living, but it is newly committed to breaking its slow pattern of reporting only when something old, odd, or large comes around. So, we've invested in a twit handle @6kfootdrop in order to more timely comment on the direction of modern life.
Two weeks into this experiment, @6kfootdrop is pushing its own hashtag the #InanityIndex, which is a starting point for an algorithm to help decipher the quizzical behavior of modern man. #InanityIndex = bad ideas x efficacy x personal unawareness. You choose the relative weighting of these three factors, and if other factors also contribute to the inanity of the situation you are facing. For example, Washington State near-famous Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers scores high on the #InanityIndex despite her low relative efficacy, because her bad ideas and personal unawareness are high.
For example, if you look at the US Presidents of the past 50 years, the most inane is certainly George W. Bush and arguably the least inane was Lyndon B. Johnson, so run them throughout the #InanityIndex to rank them. Do the same with the last 30 Best Picture Oscar winners to find No Country for Old Men and Schindler's List are the #LeastInane, and Titanic and Dances with Wolves are the #MostInane.
Probably @6kfootdrop's most inane tactic so far has been picking on intolerant, out of touch, uneducated Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers as imbecilic, and manipulable.
Once the Congresswoman's shallow well is exhausted, we might focus the #InanityIndex on arcane political history, or technology advice, or reality television, or taking ambiguous points of view on political hot buttons like abortion. Empowering human potential?
Or maybe we'll keep it more cosmological or soulful.
But fear not, 6000footdrop.com will continue to report on the big and important events of travel, politics, and fine living, and its protege @6kfootdrop will report on the inane ones as they surface.
